    February 7, 2018: Space Wars V1.0, Helix Server Begins

    • New Movement Point Ratio Changes (X power requirement: Movement value). This is to reduce the movement/speed inflation that has occurred in the past year in beta testing/changes.
      • Class I 1:6 remains the same
        Class II originally 1:3 changed to 1:2
        Class III originally 1:2 changed to 1:1
        Class IV originally 1:1 changed to 2:1
        Class V originally 2:1 changed to 3:1
        Class VI originally 3:1 changed to 4:1
        Class VII originally 4:1 changed to 6:1
        Class VIII originally 6:1 changed to 8:1
        Class IX originally 8:1 changed to 10:1
        Class X originally 10:1 changed to 12:1
    • More balancing changes to all ships, specifically within variants so that every variant is on par with others.
    • All variants are now locked and acquired via credits.
    • Players who participated in the previous server and won legacy medals are awarded bonus/free credits.
    • You no longer need to go to the edge of the map to warp out, you now can warp out anywhere on the map.
    • Spawning in map (warping in) is no longer on the edge of the map, but anywhere in the sector itself (excluding areas of radiation, nebula, and ion storms).
    • Dark Matter Astrophysics Skill Level II now gives a bonus of 20 initiative to allow players' ships to warp out before anyone can fire on them.
    • Officer skill point requirements have been increased to max out at 150 instead of 50. This was to reduce the effect of ships getting overpowered too quickly through the officer skillsets.
      • Level 1 Requirement: 1 point
        Level 2 Requirement: 10 points
        Level 3 Requirement: 40 points
        Level 4 Requirement: 80 points
        Level 5 Requirement: 120 points
        Tactical Officer:
        Level 1 Requirement: 5 points
        Level 2 Requirement: 10 points
        Level 3 Requirement: 30 points
        Level 4 Requirement: 50 points
        Level 5 Requirement: 70 points
        Level 6 Requirement: 80 points
        Level 7 Requirement: 90 points
        Level 8 Requirement: 100 points
        Level 9 Requirement: 110 points
        Level 10 Requirement: 120 points
    • Sectors with Faction Limits of 4 or lower are now limited to Class III ships and lower, to help new players avoid stronger enemy classes.
    • Capture point values on most ships have been increased, so capturing a region is slightly faster.
    • AI ships now will attempt to fire all their weapons from all sides.

    Class V stations have now been added to the galaxy map, which defend the first line (when much stronger stations used to protect the first line). So that there is more sectors open for capture in the long run. Here are their stat cards:

    Patch Update Valentines 2-14-18
    • Made some visual adjustments to the variant buttons on the Shipyard.
    • Added a new feature that allows us to set a Honor/Leadership point bonus that is awarded to the player upon creating a character for a specific faction.
    • The sector lockout for retreating is now per captain instead of per ship.
    • Fixed several issues with not being able to get credit for defending sectors. Sector defense is now counted if a player is of the defending faction and is in the map when it shifts from combat to freeflight due to an enemy ship’s destruction or retreat. Sector defense can only be rewarded once per sector. The per sector restriction is reset upon docking with a friendly Spacedock.
    • Players will now be able to adjust power levels to damaged systems during the allocation phase.
    • Ship systems (weapons, shield arcs, scanners, and marine pods) will no longer have their power automatically deallocated when damaged.
    • When the AI takes over a ship after a Player disconnects it will no longer attempt to move to the edge of the map before warping out.
    • The different classes of repair ships will now appear as separate ships not variants in the Shipyard.
    • Fixed an issue where the engine power status was not displaying the correct value based on crew damage.
    • Support ships directly controlled by a player will now count towards a sector’s faction limit.
    • Fixed an issue with the incorrect image being used for the Helix server.
    • The Enter Galaxy button will now only appear in the Shipyard once all data has been loaded to prevent an invalid client state.
    • The Ship & Structure glossary has been removed from the tutorial.

    Patch Update 2-20-18
    • The Helmsman officer skill Rotation is now available. This skill will reduce the Movement Point cost for turning per hex side by half and reverse will only cost 2 Movement Points.
    • Movement Points will now be displayed with a decimal value in combat.
    • The sector lockout for retreating will now be applied immediately upon player disconnect.
    • Support ships, directly piloted by a player, will now be correctly blocked from entering a sector if it would exceed a sector’s faction limit.
    • AI controlled ships will now rotate in place to fire all their weapons instead of moving to a new node.
    • AI controlled ships will now be able to move more effectively in maps due to a change in how they handle movement points..
    • Fixed an issue where the Kumano light cruiser was getting the ship skill benefits for Comfortable Crew instead of Advanced Med Bays.
    • New variants for the Elbe and Little Genshai repair ships have been added to the game.

    Patch Update 3-1-18
    • The Shipyard will now function as the in-game store to consolidate where players use credits. Captain portrait changes, ship name changes, and captain & officer respecs are now purchasable with credits as consumable tokens in the Shipyard. These tokens can then be expended on the specific ship, officer, or captain without the need for any additional credit expenditure. These consumables are per account, so they will carry over between server seasons if not used.
    • Many of the ship classes have had their power to movement ratios adjusted.
      • Class I, II, and V remain the same.
      • Class III: Changed to 2 power for 3 movement
      • Class IV: Changed to 3 power for 2 movement
      • Class VI: Changed to 5 power for 1 movement
      • Class VII: Changed to 7 power for 1 movement
      • Class VIII: Changed to 11 power for 1 movement
      • Class IX: Changed to 15 power for 1 movement
      • Class X: Changed to 20 power for 1 movement
    • The Maneuverability officer skills have been changed to now give a specified number of movement points during the combat phase instead of being a percentage.
      • Maneuverability I: +1 Movement Point per round.
      • Maneuverability II: +2 Movement Points per round.
      • Maneuverability III: +3 Movement Points per round.
      • Maneuverability IV: +4 Movement Points per round.
      • Maneuverability V: +5 Movement Points per round.
    • Movement points will now display to 2 decimal points to help with confusion with rounding.
    • Addressed an issue where the AI would wait out their full turn time if their weapon was damaged.
    • Class 4 ships (frigates) now have a faster cooldown of approximately 24 hours.

    Patch Update 3-8-18
    • The Commandeer game mechanic is now in-game. Firing a Marine Pod that reduces a ship’s crew to zero will result in the marines taking over the ship and attempting to escape the map with the ship. Due to the covert operations of the Marines’ operations, other Genari players will not be aware that a ship has been commandeered and will still be able to fire upon the ship. When a commandeered ship leaves the map double experience will be awarded to all Genari players in the map with the majority of the experience going to the player who captured the ship. The interaction for Sol players whose ships are commandeered will function the same as if their ship was destroyed with it going on cooldown if it isn’t a starter ship. The Commandeer skills for the Marine Commandeer will remain disabled for the time being.
    • A new product to double the LP/HP a player earns is now available in the Shipyard. Upon purchase all HP/LP a player earns for 24 hours will be doubled. The LP/HP bars on the Spacedock and Galaxy Map will have a visual effect when the bonus is active. The time remaining will be displayed on the LP/HP doubler product on the Shipyard. Purchasing multiple of these at one time will extend the duration HP/LP will be doubled.
    • The Ship Glossary is now having its information dynamically populated so it will always be up to date with any design changes to ships and structures.
    • The chat bar will now be open by default.
    • The Genari captain skill Rally Offensive will now be refreshed upon returning to the shipyard after a ship’s destruction.
    • Players will now be able to correctly move in reverse with the Rotation skill if they have less than 2 or more but less than 3 movement points remaining.
    • The number of times a captain can be respecced has been increased to 6.

    Minor thing that isn't really an issue: "... Due to the covert operations of the Marines’ operations, other Genari players will not be aware that a ship has been commandeered ..." -- Covert operations of the Marine's operations? The grammar is a bit strange there. Then "The Commandeer skills for the Marine Commandeer will remain disabled for the time being" <-- Is that intended or is the second Commandeer supposed to be Marine Commander?

    -Programmer talk, I should have edited it, instead of cut/paste. Basically the programmers are still working on that ship 'turning sides' so in theory, genari players can still shoot/destroy it. Marine commander skill Commandeer is still in the works. -Vesuvius

    Patch Update 3-22-18
    • The Commandeer mechanic has been improved, so when a Sol ship is commandeered by Genari other Sol ships will now be able to fire upon the commandeered ship. If the commandeered ship is destroyed before leaving the map no bonus XP will be awarded to Genari players. Genari players will no longer be able to attack a commandeered Sol ship. Commandeered Sol ship scanners and detection now functions as if it were a Genari ship.
    • The Marine Commander skills Commandeer are now available.
      • Commandeer I: Captured ships will take 1 turn less to warp out of a map. The successful exfiltration of a commandeered ship awards 4X the destruction XP instead of 2X.
      • Commandeer II: Captured ships will take 2 turns less to warp out of a map. The successful exfiltration of a commandeered ship awards 8X the destruction XP instead of 2X.
    • Advanced Med Bays skills for the Sol Medical Officer have had their healing modifiers reduced.
      • Advanced Med Bays I: 5% Crew Healing per round
      • Advanced Med Bays II: 10% Crew Healing per round
    • The ship skill Improved Rotation has been implemented and is now available on all Gorshkov and Starfire variants. This skill is functionally the same and will not stack with the Rotation officer skill.
    • A server greeting message system has been added to the game. When a player loads into the Spacedock for the first time during a play session they will be presented with a message tailored to the specific server.
    • A New Player server is now available. This server is meant as a place for learning to play the game in a limited fashion. Ships are limited to Class 4 Frigates and lower, and all variants can be unlocked for LP/HP (No Credits Required). Once players are ready to play in a competitive environment they can create a character the main server.

    Patch Update 5-28-18
    • All Class 5 (Destroyers) cooldown on destruction now approximately 24 hours.
    • The following Genari Ships receive armor (hull increases):
      • All Firestorm Class VII Cruisers gain +10 hull
      • All Devastator Class VII Cruisers gain +20 hull
      • All Starfire Class VIII Heavy Cruisers gain +40 hull
      • All Nova Class IX Battleships gain +50 hull
      • Leviathan Class X Dreadnought gains +85 hull
    • The following Sol Ships gain or lose armor :
      • All Exeter Class VIII Heavy Cruisers gain +30 hull
      • All Kumano Class VI Light Cruisers gain +10 hull
      • All Montana Class VII Cruisers lose -10 hull
    • Baltimore Type 2 Heavy Cruiser has its force fields slightly reduced from SIWFF3-8 to SIWFF3-7
    • Nova Battleships lose their two marine pods.
    • 'Invalid Target' NPC targeting bug fixed.
