There's a few trailers and other videos for Space Wars at this point, and might as well post them all here as well for a compilation, and as new ones get added.

    First Trailer: Fleet Admiral's Speech
The idea behind it was to use the game engine, without any CGI. It shows a small Genari Corvette being overrun by a Sol Yamato Battleship, while in the background you hear a speech by Fleet Admiral Bradley in year 2168, after first contact with the Genari Star Empire:

(distant applause fading) "This is not our first encounter with a hostile race, nor will it be our last. Those in the Genari Star Empire are bred for war. Their leaders cannot be underestimated; they aim to enslave the Human race and to crush Humanity itself. With the might of the Sol Imperial Worlds,(minor applause, fading) we will eradicate their existence from this galaxy once and for all!" (full applause)
It follows the lore of the game, with the Fleet Admiral's propaganda making the Genari Empire look more fearsome and dangerous than it is, with the irony shown with the diminutive Genari ship vs the advanced Sol ship. I also took the idea of the original Star Wars opening which gave the same kind of message. In a sense, the Sol Imperial Worlds is like the Empire in Star Wars, with a mix of the heavy propaganda-based military dictatorship you see in Starship Troopers.
*I had a much more comprehensive speech, which comes right out of the book, but the trailer needed to be 30 seconds long and it was reduced in length and simplified.

    Second Trailer: Gameplay
While the Admiral Speech was more a hint of the storyline, it did not give much in the way of what the game was about. So the gameplay trailer focused on:
    1 - massively multiplayer warfare
2 - stats-based RPG system for captain, ship and crew
3 - turn based tactical combat
4 - over 50 different ships to choose from
    5 - universe to explore
6 - acquire and upgrade your ships
    7 - 4 different races

Again, it could not exceed one minute, so the above was the gist of what could be presented in a quick format.

Third Trailer: Ships of the Line
I personally am obsessed with starships, ship flybys, and spaceship designs. Since the game is primarily focused on the ships themselves, I wanted something that could present them in greater detail, which the Gameplay Trailer did not do. I scripted different flyby views, and put these ships in:
    Sol Imperial Worlds
1 - Orchis Class III Corvette
2 - Oslo Class IV Frigate
    3 - Swordfish Class V Destroyer
4 - Kumano Class VI Light Cruiser
5 - Nagara Class VII Cruiser
6 - Exeter Class VIII Heavy Cruiser
7 - Yamato Class IX Battleship
    Genari United Empire
8 - Honor Bound Class III Corvette
9 - Battalion Class IV Frigate
    10-Interdictor Class V Destroyer
    11-Guardian Class VI Light Cruiser
    12-Victory Class VI Light Cruiser
    13-Firestorm Class VII Cruiser
    14-Starfire Class VIII Heavy Cruiser
    15-Nova Class IX Battleship
    16-Leviathan Class X Dreadnought

Once again, it had to be under 1 minute for a trailer, so I did not put Ma'Alaketh or Hive ships, or all the other cool Sol/Genari ships.

    Meet the Developers/Kickstarter Video
This one took a while to make, and it compiled a variety of elements from all three trailers above, and mixed it with interviews with some of the development team, as well as the producer (me). Chronology:
1 - Introduction by Producer with voiceover narration, some video from PAX in Seattle, and Producer working with the team at Desert Owl Studios
2 - Lead Developer Art Griffith with contiued voiceover narration, talking about the Spacewars Universe gameplay
3 - Artist Tony Lopes talking about the variety of ships/designs
4 - Artist Darcie Banfield about the source of inspiration for the ships
5 - Artist Nathan McGuire showing various medals and awards as well at their methodology

Since there was no time limit on this one, its almost 4 mintues long -- but it gives you an in depth view of the game in development.

Definite congrats to the artists for their detailed work. Considering that the team isn't a 100 person operation backed by EA etc..

I'd like to see more of these 'warpout' scenes I've seen on some of the vids. Dark matter drive?

Just a quick video of traveling in the galaxy map in alpha:
Traveling from a homeworld to a combat region at the border.

Another quick video of the character selection screen when you start your game, picking through the starter ship you want, as well as your avatar (Captain) image.

I finally sat and watched the meet the developers video. I'm impressed with the work with a small team like that. The game looks like a triple-A title. Is there going to be a publisher or some entity like EA that is going to support the game? Or are you guys all on your own?

No, there is no support from any company, its all on my own at this point. The game will have to succeed via media reviews and word of mouth. I can see a company like Paradox Interactive taking this game on if it is a success however. (But that is part of the problem, you can't be a success necessarily if only a few know about the game).

Here's hoping that it's a game that will take off then :)
