The internal beta will run through Summer/Fall 2017; until then there will be consistent updates and features being added. The game will launch to the public on December 6th, and the test server will be reset.
Players who have access to the internal beta will be posting here to discuss the game, report bugs, and talk strategy.

    11/3/17 Build Update:
    • Many of the sector maps on the galaxy have been revised to have to be more distinct from one another, and have been improved for more strategic options. There are over 15,000 sectors/maps on the large map being played.

    • Fixed an issue where the ships destroyed statistic on the Captain’s Profile was incorrectly offset by 3 classes.
    • NPC Civilian ships will now correctly show their transit phase animations.
    • The leaderboard will now only show captains for the current server season.
    • Fixed an issue where the camera would cut back to the player’s ship between each cinematic in a transit phase.
    11/7/17 Build Update:
    • Sectors under an opposing faction’s possession that can be attacked will now display a white lightning bolt.
    • Marine Pods will no longer deal crew damage to Ma'Alaketh or Hive ships.
    • The captain skill Slaughter II will now give +2 XP per crew kill instead of +4 XP.
    • Fixed an issue where a large map object was not being properly shown but was still preventing players from navigating through the nodes it occupied.
    • Weapons can no longer counterfire when they are damaged.
    • The background for the server select scene has been updated.
    • The frequency players will run into a general error on the Sol tutorial that will prevent progression has been reduced.

    • The queued for map popup will no longer persist into combat.

There seems to be a bug where when an AI ship warps in, it leaves an image copy of it in the corner. That ship doesn't show up on the turn bar, and disappears when you leave the spot. Sort of like an artifact image. Only seen it happen once when the Ai came to defend the spot I was attacking.

-Noticed that on occasion, reported the bug earlier -Vesuvius

When you zoom in to second level on the galaxy map, areas like G-1214 show that there's no mines, but there are actually mines when you travel there.

-Good catch, I will report -Vesuvius

I just tried the new sol tutorial.
While I think that it is quite well done, I regularly encountered the problem, that i was not able to use most of the weapons I powered up but only got a general error, when trying to, after which the weapons showed, that they had already been fired.

-I'm playing as Sol. Noticed the bug, when firing on the Honor Bound corvette. Lasers won't work after the 'general error' kicks in. I will report it. Strange enough, it wasn't there before the last update. -Vesuvius

    I've noticed that new players quite often are confused by where to go on the galaxy map, especially if there isn't any border activity. So I've sent a feature request to the programmers;
So its recommended to put in a thunderbolt feature on every invadable sector to show players these are all available. See image attached.
The thunderbolt would be smaller, with a dim flash in greyscale.
    borders.jpg

Then a key would be placed on the galaxy map to help identify what these icons mean.

general question, when using marine pods and lower engine output, wouldn't it be logical to assume that until crew is replaced(above corresponding %levels) engines can't be repaired?

  10. Vesuvius_SWIE

    Vesuvius_SWIE Administrator Staff Member

Engine damage is different than crew losses affecting engine power efficiency. So when the crew is 'healed' or 'replaced', they help restore the loss of engine efficiency.

I like the events(bugs) you have been posting, I realize not everyone will look on the forums regularly. Makes it easier for the new players and maybe not as frustrating.

-Yes, with more players coming in now, the more the information is instantly available to them (including the broadcasting system) the better. -Vesuvius

The areas where you sometimes 'bounce', the programmers found an invisible map entity that wasn't showing up properly. It will be a fix on Tuesday's update.

So we got the first little taste of what I kept talking about how corvettes can wreck ships up to about Class VI without too much trouble IF everyone knows what they are doing. Heck, just a damage boost upgrade (You can thank my own AI defender for costing me that) would have made a helluva difference + Ravin is new + Ravin and V are flying Mendi IV's for some reason (far inferior to a Mendi III.... I keep telling you that these flat modifiers to damage and lack of scaling to some parameters really unbalances things).

-Actually, there is a reason why Mendi IV is preferred, I realized only after you used the III that its supposed to have 3 lasers not 4, like the AF IV. -Vesuvius

Now imagine if I was commanding a seasoned crew of wingmen... or better yet, my own manually controlled Fleet Admiral II group of 3 corvettes ?

Icing on the cake? Voice comms, because in game chat is kinda clunky, and typing is slow to begin with regardless of the interface.

Note: Chat window is cut off on galaxy and station screens (I think station too), you can't see the flashing cursor or first character input. Also, if you press the 'enter' key, it should automatically pop out the chat tab to start typing. Also, need to take a look at dropping focus from chat window so you can play the game. All too often, getting stuck in chat mode when trying to issue commands, wasting time.

-Its a bug I reported now. -Vesuvius

Oh and spacebar is your friend for popping up the movement grid instead of having to click or manually (WASD) maneuver. Space bar tip should appear in tutorial or events/FAQ area.

-Yes, spacebar and tab keys should be known to players as ways to center on ship and select targets -Vesuvius

Now, we are at a stalemate, because attacking an enemy territory results in a free battle credit for the defender....

-Defending isn't supposed to have battle credits, the programmers made that discretion on their own. I let it stay for now, but it can be changed at any time. -Vesuvius

    Huge problem with this system.

What's the point of NPC ships if they don't give any XP or anything of value? Are they going to be a bounty target or drop items or mission credit?

    Waste of time for now.

-They're eye candy, just like any other mmo NPC that walks around, for easy kills. They also count for region capture points. -Vesuvius

Oh, Amish's Class IV frigate that I killed? I got like 80 xp off of that. What gives?

-That's more than enough XP for a kill, otherwise we'd have cruisers by tomorrow. -Vesuvius

For killing a Class IV, you can't even purchase a corvette!

This is what I was talking about with how short life expectancy is with this incredibly volatile balance of 'alpha strike wins' and extremely small payouts. The upper end usually seems a lot easier to slug through, it's getting to Class V that's the challenge.

Tuscaloosa has some serious pathing issues.

-Where is that? Though take note that the invisible entity bug has been reported, and the programmers are working on it. It makes you bounce in its vicinity. -Vesuvius

Getting some pretty nasty bugs after my latest exploration venture and suicide.

'Invalid ship' upon trying to leave dock (purchased a new freebie)

-That's actually a known bug that is getting fixed on Tuesday's update. -Vesuvius

managed to slip out the dock, but..

'Invalid system' when trying to power up weapons, power allocation rescinded. Didn't seem to resolve itself after one round or a relog.
